Bridging the gaps Project at Loughborough University
To establish an Interdisciplinary Design Team (IDT), of Arts & Science colleagues. The IDT will investigate effective ways of breaking down subject barriers, and explore the potential for 3-dimensional forms that utilise pioneering digital technologies and traditional methods of making: relating prototype outcomes to Culture & Sport.

Art meets Science what an adventure..
Since, April I have been working in the Department of Cell Signalling in the Laboratory for Molecular Pharmacology and Biophysics at the University of Nottingham Medical School which has given me a unique insight into how scientists work within this specialist area.
For me, personally its been a baptism of fire, as I have not had any experience or knowledge of science since secondary school and that is over twenty five years ago. Working as a research scientist within this department has been a huge but exhilarating learning curve. I am working in collaboration with Dr Nicholas Holliday (RCUK Roberts Academic Fellow) and Tim Self (Chief Experimental Officer). We are looking at ‘Hijacking Natural Systems”, to discover how cells work from a drug perspective.
Opportunities and Digital Education Projects in response to Working with Cell Signalling
The project “Hijacking Natural Systems” is being taken into schools and into the community in Derby over the next few months, so that a whole range of people will have an opportunity to be inspired by science, new technology & digital culture. Participants will produce digital art work and animations informed by the unique resource material gathered into how medicines work in a single cell which I have produced through working in the Department of Cell Signalling at the University of Nottingham Medical School. Artwork will be shown in high profile public locations including: City Centre Bus Stops; Derby Museum & Art Gallery and BBC Big Screen in July 2011.more
